It´s International Sculpture Day on April 24th 2021, and as international woman sculptors, we are celebrating this with our first International Women Stone Talk. We are very happy to share these two talks with you here. Ich kann mich noch genau an den International Sculpture Day 2020 erinnern – über Instagram hatte ich Posts dafür gesehen und mich entschlossen, selbst auch ein Bild von mir mit meinem Skulpturenpaar 1000 x 1000 um die Welt zu veröffentlichen.
Am gleichen Tag habe ich „On form“ entdeckt, eine Skulpturenausstellung in England, mit unfassbar schönen Videos auf der Website, die solch schöne Aufnahmen von Skulpturen in der Landschaft zeigen. Und daraufhin bin ich auf so viele tolle Bildhauerinnen und Bildhauer gestossen, die dort ausgestellt haben. Im Nachhinein würde ich sagen, dass dies der Start war, in dem sich mein virtuelles Netz an tollen Bildhauerinnen und Bildhauern angefangen hat zu bilden. Dafür bin ich sehr, sehr dankbar!
Als ich dieses Jahr wieder den Aufruf zum International Sculpture Day gesehen habe, hatte ich Lust, etwas zu veröffentlichen, und da kam mir eines morgens die Idee des „International Women Stone Talk“ . . . ich war das ganze Jahr über immer wieder so berührt und auch für meine eigene Arbeit ermutigt worden, wenn ich auf Instagram Bilder von Bildhauerinnen bei der Arbeit am Stein und so nah an ihrem Material gesehen habe, dass ich beschlossen habe, ein paar von ihnen anzuschreiben und einzuladen. Ich freue mich so sehr darüber, dass ich heute, am International Sculpture Day 2021, zwei Talks mit sechs internationalen Bildhauerinnen teilen kann. Wir haben das große Glück, Sarah Monk, die den Podcast „Materially Speaking“ herausbringt, als Moderatorin in unserem Kreis zu haben.
I can still remember International Sculpture Day 2020 – I had seen posts for it via Instagram and decided to publish a picture of myself with my sculpture 1000 x 1000 around the world.
On the same day, I discovered „On Form“, a sculpture exhibition in England, with incredibly beautiful videos on the website that show such beautiful shots of sculptures in the landscape. And then I came across so many great sculptors who exhibited there. In retrospect, I would say that this was the start in which my virtual network of great sculptors began to form. I am very, very grateful for that!
When I saw the call for International Sculpture Day again this year, I wanted to publish something, and one morning I came up with the idea of the International Women Stone Talk. I was so touched all year round and also encouraged for my own work when I saw pictures of women sculptors working on the stone and so close to their material that I decided to write and invite a few of them. I’m so pleased, that today, on International Sculpture Day 2021, I can share two talks with six international sculptors. We are very lucky to have Sarah Monk, who´s hosting the podcast „Materially Speaking“, as a moderator in our circle.
